What is Coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative process that helps you to gain clarity, build self-awareness, and achieve meaningful personal and professional goals. Through open and honest conversations and practical strategies, coaching helps you to identify what you really want, what's standing in your way, and the action plan you're going to follow towards your goal.

Coaching is not counselling, where past experiences are deeply dissected. It's not mentoring, where you receive advice from someone with lived experience. And it's not training, where someone tells you what to do. Coaching is unique to you, a time to explore your true values and goals in a safe and supportive environment without distractions. We'll focus on what you need, whether that's clarity, a mindset shift, self-belief, or accountability. This is your journey; you determine the goal, you tackle the barriers, you reap the reward.

I’ll be there to guide, support, and cheer you on as you move forward with confidence, self-belief, and a clear sense of direction.

Is Coaching Right For Me?

A hand writing

Coaching is ideal for individuals who are ready to make positive changes, achieve clear goals, and grow in self-awareness. If you’re feeling stuck, uncertain, or want to take your personal or professional life to the next level, coaching can provide the support and structure you need to move forward with clarity and confidence.

Whether you believe it or not, you have the answers within you already. But sometimes life has a way of hiding them. Coaching provides the space to uncover them and take control of your next steps.

Coaching is for you if:

  • You’re ready to invest in yourself – you’re open to exploring your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, and are committed to taking actionable steps toward positive change.

  • You want clarity and focus – you have goals but need help defining them more clearly, or perhaps you’re unsure of the next steps. Coaching can help you create a clear roadmap.

  • You’re seeking accountability – you want someone to keep you focused and motivated as you work towards your goals, ensuring you stay on track and make steady progress.

  • You’re looking for support, not advice – you’re ready to find your own solutions, but need guidance in navigating challenges and discovering the best path forward for you.

  • You want to build emotional intelligence and a positive mindset – you’re looking to develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a mindset that helps you overcome obstacles and seize opportunities.

When Coaching May Not Be the Right Fit

I believe it's crucial to head into any new coaching relationship with an open and honest approach. The first step is to establish if coaching is the right approach to meet your current needs.

Let's remember that coaching is about dealing with the current situation, and shaping positive steps towards a successful future. Coaching can be incredibly valuable, but it’s important to know when it might not be the right approach for you.

Here are a few situations where coaching may not be the best fit at the moment:

  • If you're looking for ready-made solutions – coaching is all about helping you discover your own answers and make decisions that work for you, rather than providing a one-size-fits-all solution.

  • If you need therapy or counselling – coaching is forward-focused and designed to help you achieve goals and personal growth. If you’re dealing with mental health challenges or unresolved past issues, therapy or counselling may be a better option. (I can refer you to a specialist who can support you in the right way).

  • If you’re not quite ready to take action – coaching works best when you’re willing to take steps and make positive changes. If you're not ready to invest time and effort into this process, it would be best to wait untl you are.

  • If you prefer an instructional approach – coaching is flexible and tailored to your unique needs, so if you’re looking for something more rigid and prescriptive, it may not be the right fit.

  • If you’re not looking to make any changes – coaching is about growth, change, and progress. If you’re content with where you are and not interested in change, you might want to try an alternative approach.

  • If you’re expecting a quick fix – personal and professional growth take time and effort. Coaching is a process, and while you’ll make progress, it’s not about instant results.
